Coming Events

We're back! As many of you know, we weren't meeting for awhile following a pretty bad wreck in March by Kristin she was out with a broken leg and facial injuries). We're meeting next month, tentatively on Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Mazzio's. RSVP's aren't required, but appreciated so that we can tell Mazzio's beforehand in regard to putting tables together to ensure adequate space for the group.

For more information email Kristin at info@gcgeocachers.org.

CACHE 'N CRUISE TO ALASKA: Announcing the formation of the special group, nick-named the ARKANSAS TRAVEL BUGS! The event includes a northbound cruise from Vancouver, British Columbia to Whittier (Anchorage), Alaska with nine different ports featuring specially-hidden event caches in each port! You don't want to miss this - and it's even during the summer when the kids are out so you can bring them along! For details, click here. Best of all, an experienced agent will be onboard the ship to provide assistance/guide information!

GRANT COUNTY MEET 'N GREET: We are holding a meet and greet event at Mazzio's on Oct. 23 beginning at 6:30 p.m. We invite everyone to come out and enjoy a fun evening full of food, fun and lots of laughter! We need a head count prior to Tuesday night so that we know how much room we need, so please visit gc.com (click here) and log your intent to attend!

MORRILTON MEET AND GREET: Our fellow cachers in Morrilton are holding an open Meet and Greet for a great day of story-telling and caching in a beautiful part of our state! Activites will include a Poker run, a Camo contest and a kids cache with candy. There will be door prizes and food (hot dogs, cokes, etc.) so be sure to come out and enjoy a great day in Morrilton! Let's go support our fellow cachers - they put a LOT of work into these events for YOU!

First annual TimberCache Challenge was held! We held our first ever geocaching competition in Grant County. The event was on Oct. 6 in Sheridan at the Sheridan Recreation Center Pavilion. The event was held the same weekend as the Chamber of Commerce's annual Timberfest. There were cachers from Fort Smith, Morrilton, Benton, Bryant, Sheridan and Redfield. This was a great day for caching (but next year, we'll try to avoid the Timberfest event because we learned it created quite the traffic jam for those who were not from our area and couldn't navigate the traffic). If you missed out, please watch for information on next year's event. Tentatively, we're looking at Oct. 11, 2008 starting again at the Rec Center Pavilion. Next year, we hope to have concessions and BIG PRIZES. We need VOLUNTEERS desperately to help out! Put it on your calendar now for next year!
